01 — CAM CONSULTANCY
Turnkey programs.
Zero surprises.

Full 5-axis CAM programming in HyperMill — from rapid prototyping through to batch production. Programs are produced to the exacting standard demanded by Formula 1 — where a failed program means a failed race. The same rigour applied to your components, regardless of volume. Production-ready NC code delivered to your machine, not just your inbox.

02 — DFM CONSULTANCY
Catch problems
before they cost you.

A full written design breakdown assessing the machinability of your components before they reach the shop floor. Wall thickness, tool access, datum strategy, tolerance risk — we find the issues that cause expensive re-designs downstream.

03 — FIXTURE DESIGN
Held precisely.
Every time.

Comprehensive fixture design for any volume — one-off components through to batch loads of 20+ parts. Every project is delivered with a full written report and production-ready 3D models, ready for manufacture or quotation.

The Dual-World Difference

Two worlds of precision.
One engineering partner.

Formed at the intersection of Formula 1 pace and aerospace rigour — where tight deadlines and zero-defect standards are not negotiable. That dual experience is what every Amethyst client gets access to.

Who We Are
Amethyst Precision Engineering Ltd

Two worlds.
One standard.

Amethyst Precision Engineering was founded by James Mannings — a CAM programmer who has spent 14 years across two of Formula 1's top teams and as a Manufacturing Engineer in the international aerospace sector.

Formula 1 teaches you to work fast — parts are needed in hours, not days, and there is no margin for error when a race depends on it. Aerospace teaches you to be methodical — every process documented, every tolerance justified, every risk assessed. Amethyst brings both disciplines to every project.

The company is named after HMS Amethyst, the Royal Navy frigate on which James's grandfather served during the Korean campaign. Precision, resilience, and performing under pressure — values that run in the family.

The Name
Named after HMS Amethyst

Amethyst Precision Engineering takes its name from HMS Amethyst — the Royal Navy frigate made famous by the Yangtze Incident of 1949. James's grandfather served aboard her during the Korean campaign from 1949 to 1956. The name is a tribute to that service — and a reminder that precision, resilience, and performing under pressure are values that run in the family.

How It Works

From enquiry
to delivery.

STEP 01
Enquiry

Send files, drawings, or a brief. We confirm scope and issue a quote within 24–48 hours.

STEP 02
Review

DFM and machinability assessment. Issues identified before programming begins — not after.

STEP 03
Program

HyperMill CAM programming to the standard demanded by both Formula 1 and certified aerospace manufacture.

STEP 04
Deliver

Verified NC code, fixture designs, or reports delivered with complete documentation.
